Pinkie party

Last night we had five girls over for a pinkie party, otherwise known as a slumber party in which five girls stay up all night putting curlers in their hair, playing truth or dare, and chasing each other around the house. My refuge resided in the small but fabulously fun thrill of setting the table and selecting all those items that are sugar sweet in color and character and mostly appropriate for little girl parties. I used a linen table clothe that was hand loomed in Finland and has been a friendly staple for more than 20 years. On top of the linen, I used big pink heart shaped lace doilies, pink napkins, pink and white carnations, and pink glass plates which are the exact color and texture of a strawberry jolly roger candy. Almost makes me want to be 10 again.
